Very rich Siddha tradition spanning six generations is the principal asset of Edison's Siddha Vaidyasala. The 'tharavadu' (ancestral house) of the Vaidyas (doctors) of Edison's Siddha Vaidyasala was at Mathiyodu in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu. For several reasons including the frequent visit of Agasthyar and his disciples, Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu has been the most fertile land of Siddha Vaidyam over the centuries. The Mathiyodu ancestors of Edison's Siddha Vaidyasala were great exponents and scholars of Siddha Vaidyam. The collective wisdom of six generations of Siddha practitioners, including that of Mathiyodu Siddhars is the unique strength of Edison's Siddha Vaidyasala.
Edison's Siddha Vaidyasala, the renowned traditional Siddha Vaidyasala of Kerala is considered to be the ultimate centre of Siddha school of medicine and Siddha wisdom. This Vaidyasala (hospital), founded in 1921 by the late Shri. Joseph Kadaksham Vaidyar in the name of his son Shri. Edison Vaidyar has been there at Thiruvananthapuram as a beacon of hope and as an authentic fountainhead of medical wisdom for the last eight decades.
